Clear Acrylic Arm Chair

Most banquet chairs have no arms. That’s deliberate. Armless chairs tuck under a table, sit close together and pack tight. The Clear Acrylic Accent Arm Chair With Cushion (SKU WJ-44) from Tanabata breaks that pattern. It’s a transparent chair with arms, and arms change the math on almost everything: spacing, table fit, even how guests sit down.

What the page says

Two small mismatches to clear up

The header says the color is clear. The spec table says gold, rose gold or silver. The likeliest reading is that the acrylic is clear and the stainless steel frame comes in the three metal finishes. The description says “luxury gold stainless steel finish,” which fits.

The description also mentions a “led acrylic back,” but the spec table doesn’t list LED. Ask whether this chair has a light, how it’s powered, and whether it’s standard or an upgrade.

Why arms matter at a table

Arms look generous and take real space.

First, tucking in. A chair with arms can only slide under a table if the arms clear the tabletop edge. If the arms are lower than the tabletop, the chair tucks in. If they’re higher, it stops short, and the guest ends up sitting a few inches further back. Ask for the arm height and the seat height, then compare both with your table height.

Second, width. An armless banquet chair needs roughly 20 to 24 inches (50 to 60 cm) of table edge. Arms add width to the chair itself, so you often need more room per seat. That’s a general rule of thumb, not a Tanabata spec. Ask for the chair’s overall width, then count how many fit around your tables.

Third, comfort. Arms help guests stand up, which matters for older guests, and they give a place to rest. They also make a chair feel more like a lounge piece than a dining chair.

What that means for a round table

Take a round table that seats ten armless chairs. Swap in arm chairs and ten may no longer fit, because the arms bump neighboring chairs. Check the numbers before you commit, or plan for two fewer seats per table.

Arm chairs work best at tables with generous spacing: a sweetheart table, a small head table, or a table of six to eight at a venue that isn’t packed.

The acrylic question

Acrylic arms and back are fragile in a way metal isn’t. Ask which parts are acrylic and which are stainless steel. If the arms are acrylic, ask how they attach, how thick they are, and what load they take. Arms get leaned on, pushed on and grabbed when guests stand. A weak joint there fails first.

Clear acrylic also scratches more easily than metal or glass. Plan for gentle handling, and ask whether replacement parts are available.

Where it fits

An arm chair earns its place in four spots:

It’s a poor choice for a packed banquet hall where you need to fit as many seats as possible.

Custom options

The page says the acrylic back and the cushion color can be custom. That’s a useful way to match a wedding palette: a blush or navy cushion on a gold frame, for example. Ask what customizing costs, how long it adds, and whether a custom back changes the MOQ.

Before you order

Get these in writing:

Then order one sample and test it at your own table. Sit down, stand up, slide it in and out. Five minutes of testing tells you more than the photos.
